
The Supreme Court today rapped the Uttar Pradesh government for alleged irregularities in the allocation of funds to educational institutions, including to a Etawah-based college, when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chief minister in 2002-03.
A bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar questioned the state government over granting 100 crore rupees to educational bodies, allegedly without following procedures.
The top court asked UP government to file a response on the issue within two weeks.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India had earlier detected irregularities in the allocation of funds to educational institutions in the state by the then government in 2002-03.
