The popular tribal festival of nature worshipping – ‘Sarhul’, is being celebrated all over Jarkhand with enthusiasm. Today mornning started with the tribal priests- called ‘Pahan’, worshiping nature at various common religious places- called ‘Akhara’.
As per information received, at various Akharas of Ranchi, like the famous Hatma Akhara, where Pahans, were performing ceremonies, like puja and ‘jal bharai’ ceremonies, since morning.
After that in the afternoon, people came out in traditional dresses on streets in large number where various dance groups, musical groups and tableau are centers of attractions. At Ranchi Albert Ekka Chowk, thousands of people have gathered to witness the event, which will continue till very late in the evening.
A function was also organised at the Tribal languages department of Ranchi University, were Jharkand Minister C P Singh and Padmshree Simon Oraon were also present. Sarhul also marks the beginning of the New Year for the tribal of Jharkhand, and people were wishing each other on this this occasion.
Few foreign tourists, especially from Germany have also come to Ranchi to witness this mega public event.
In other parts of state, Sarhul is also being celebrated with fervor. In Dhanbad, SSP Manoj Ratan Chaudhari and his policemen played traditional tribal instruments ‘mandar’ at the occasion.
