Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati today said the alliance between her party and Samajwadi Party, SP, will not be affected by the results of yesterday’s Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The BSP nominee, supported by the SP, the Congress and the RLD lost in the election.
Talking to media persons in Lucknow this afternoon, Ms Mayawati accused the BJP of conspiring to break the BSP-SP alliance. She also accused the BJP of misusing government machinery to defeat the BSP candidate and win the RS polls. She alleged that MLAs were threatened and pressurised into cross-voting.
The BSP Chief also announced expulsion of her party MLA Anil Singh for casting his vote in favour of BJP. She said her party will reconsider continuing its alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal as its lone MLA did not vote in favour of the BSP nominee.
