Punjab govt to organise village-level tourneys to curb drug menace

Punjab government has said that it will soon start a campaign to organise village level sports tournaments across the state in order to wipe out the menace of drugs.

Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said, these tournaments will promote sportsmanship amongst the youth besides channelising their unbounded energy in a positive direction.

Addressing the gathering during a sports tournament to mark the Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in Jalandhar, the Minister said that dope test will be made mandatory in order to ensure free and fair competition in these tournaments.
