Over 300 Shamli school children fall sick due to chemical gas leak

More than 300 students of two schools fell unconscious after chemical gas release from a sugar mill nearby in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh.

All students, most of them are children, are admitted to district hospitals and other private nursing homes.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed Commissioner, Saharanpur to probe the matter.

Administration is on the spot and proper treatment is being given to the children. The condition of the children is stable.

The incident took place the in morning when students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir and Saraswati Junior High School got exposed to chemical gas released from bio- waste of a sugar mill on Budhana Road of the district.
