Massive crackdown launched against bootlegging in UP

In a wake of hooch tragedy recently reported in Saharanpur and Kushinagar districts of Uttar Pradesh, the state police and the excise department has launched a massive crackdown against bootlegging.

Police sources averred that over 3,000 people have been arrested in the operations which were launched on Friday following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Over 2,800 cases have been registered and police have recovered more than one lakh thirty thousand litres of illicit liquor till now.

In Kushinagar, Deputy SP of Tankuhi Raj area has been removed and 47 police personnel were sent to police lines.
