M Mahender Reddy appointed as DGP of Telangana State

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy has been appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana State. He will be the second DGP of the state after its formation in 2014.

An official release said, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has signed a file to this effect. Mr Reddy is likely to assume charge tomorrow as the present DGP Anurag Sharma will retire from service on superannuation today.

A civil engineering graduate from the Regional Engineering College, Warangal, Mr Reddy got selected for IPS while pursuing his M.Tech. Earlier, Mahender Reddy served in various capacities in Karimnagar, Guntur, Adilabad and Hyderabad.

The Telangana State Government has appointed DGP Anurag Sharma as advisor to Home Department. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Additional Commissioner V.V. Srinivas Rao will be in-charge Hyderabad Commissioner of Police.
