The issue of heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan’s forces along the International Border and Line of Control in Jammu rocked the J&K Assembly today even as the opposition staged walk-out from the house.

The Opposition National Conference and Congress MLAs staged a walk-out from the Legislative Assembly this morning criticising the PDP-BJP government over casualties on International Border, IB and Line of Control, LoC in Pakistan’s shelling.

The coalition partner BJP was targeted by the NC and Congress for the alleged failure in safeguarding the lives of those living along the IB and LoC.
The opposition also demanded five marlas’ plots for every household for the border people in safer areas.

Condemning the neighbouring country, BJP MLAs raised anti-Pakistan slogans. The State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri assured the opposition that government will put forth its version in the house.
