Jharkhand State Health Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni on Tuesday confirmed of state’s first corona positive case in Ranchi. A foreign national woman among those who were detected in a mosque two days back under Hindpiri Police Station is reported positive, said the Secretary. As many 24 persons were picked up by a team of police on the wee hours of Monday.
According to Kulkarni, all were kept on quarantine at Khelgaon and tested of which this lady was reported positive. She is a Malaysian. “She will now be shifted to the isolation ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS),” mentioned Kulkarni.
Notably, sources claimed that on wee hours of Monday 17 foreign nationals from the UK, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, Gambia and Bangladesh were detected in the mosque along with five guides. “Among the 17 foreigners, four are women,” informed the Officer-in-Charge of Hindpiri Police station.
They were shifted for quarantine at Khelgaon and their samples of throat swabs and others were sent to RIMS for testing.
On March 24, Ranchi Police had picked another group of 11 foreign Muslim religious preachers under Tamar police station and were sent to East Singhbhum district’s isolation centre.
