Former Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy today joined the BJP.
He was inducted in the party in the presence of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and BJP West Bengal In-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi.
The former Union Minister, Mr. Roy had resigned from the Rajya Sabha recently. Briefing media, Mr. Roy said, it is his privilege to work under the top leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
He described the BJP as a secular party saying the TMC had alliance with the BJP earlier and it could not have established itself without BJP’s support.
Mr. Roy, who was a close aide of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, expressed confidence that BJP will grab power in the next elections in the state.
Replying to a question on charges against him in Saradha chit fund scam, Mr. Roy said the law will take its own course.
Welcoming him in the BJP, Ravi Shankar Prasad said Mukul Roy’s induction will strengthen the party in the state.
