In Jammu and Kashmir, five terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district today.
The encounter broke out after the forces launched a cordon and search operation in Badigam village in Zainapora area following specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
The identity of the terrorists is being ascertained, but Hizbul Mujahideen commander Saddam Padder is believed to be among those killed. One civilian is reported to be critically injured in the exchange of fire.
In a tweet, Director General of Police SP Vaid said, the gunbattle has ended. He congratulated the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police for the operation.
