CBI has told the Delhi High Court that it has completed its preliminary enquiry into allegations against Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, BSNL.
Some of its officials allegedly caused a loss of about 1,000 crore rupees to the exchequer by releasing unauthorised payment to a subsidiary of a Chinese firm by fabricating documents.
The probe agency told a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar that the investigating officer was yet to submit the findings to the superiors and sought more time to file a report regarding its enquiry.
The court gave six weeks to the CBI to file a status report and listed the matter for further hearing on 22nd of October.
