CBI has registered a case against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda in connection with alleged irregularities in the land allotted to Associated Journals Limited, AJL.
Sources confirmed that the CBI has filed FIR alleging that Mr. Hooda as the then Chairman of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) allotted land to AJL in Panchkula violating the prescribed norms.
In its FIR, the CBI has alleged that AJL was allotted a plot in Panchkula in 1982 on which no construction took place till 1992. Haryana Urban Development Authority then took back possession of the plot. In 2005, the same plot was allegedly re-allotted to AJL at original rates by violating norms by the then Chairman, HUDA.
Associated Journals limited is reportedly controlled by senior Congress leaders including the Nehru-Gandhi family. The group runs National Herald newspaper.
