
In Rajasthan, all three candidates nominated by BJP for Rajya Sabha seats from the state have been elected unopposed today.
Returning Officer Akhil Arora announced that Bhupendra Yadav, Dr Kirodi Lal Meena and Madan Lal Saini have been elected.
After the announcement, Dr Meena and Mr Saini reached the Assembly to complete the election formalities and got their certificates.
Interacting with media, Dr Meena said that he will make efforts for granting of special package for the state from the Centre.
Madan Lal Saini said that he will effectively take up the issues related to the state.
This is the first time that all ten MPs for Rajya Sabha from the state are from the BJP.
In Bihar, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has been elected unopposed in Rajya Sabha biennial elections. Basistha Narayan Singh and Mahendra Prasad from JD(U), Akhilesh Prasad Singh of Congress and Manoj Jha and Ashfaque Karim from RJD have also been elected to the Rajya Sabha.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda was today declared elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from the lone seat in Himachal Pradesh. The seat had fallen vacant following the expiry of six-year term of Mr. Nadda, who had sought re-election.
