Adityanath directs officials to shift ternaries in view Ardh Kumbh Mela


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to shift the ternaries running in Kannauj, Unnao and Kanpur to other places phase wise in view of 2019 Ardh Kumbh Mela at Allahabad.

Reviewing the preparedness for the Mela Mr Yogi said most of the ternaries are discharging their industrial waste in the river Ganga making the river highly polluted. He said that both Ganga and Yamuna must be pollution free.

Mr Yogi also directed that in view of the pilgrimage, Namami Gange projects should be implemented with dedication and sincerity to get objective of the pollution free Ganga. He said about 12 crore pilgrims are expected at Allahabad during the Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019 and all measures must be taken to facilitate them and provide them with clean water for taking holy dip during the pilgrimage.

The Chief Minister has directed the officials for taking alternative measures including digging of ponds, removing of silts from existing ponds and canals for collection of rain water and increase irrigation efficiency in rural areas. He said diversion of water of river Ganga from Roorkee affects the flow of the river and it should be minimised.
