
Union Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation minister Uma Bharti today said a Central team would visit Bihar on the 5th of this month to assess the problem of siltation in river Ganga.
Talking to media persons at Patna Ms Bharti said the team headed by secretary of her ministry will survey the river and hold discussion with chief minister of the state Nitish Kumar on various aspects of siltation problem in the rivers of the state.
Ms Bharti said the Namami Gange project has evoked good results in terms of making clean and incessant Ganga in short span of time. She said there is no dearth of fund for the project and by 2018 some tangible results would be seen in making clean and incessant Ganga.
Ms Bharti said in Bihar many project of sewerage treatment plant (STP) have been sanctioned at Munger, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Patna. The Union minister is currently taking stock of progress of Namami Gange project and participating in Ganga Chaupals, a public dialogue meeting in different cities on the banks of river Ganga since last two days.
