Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ruled out the resignation of Bengaluru Development minister K J George, following the registration of an FIR by CBI against him and two senior police officers in connection with the suicide of Deputy Superintendent of Police M K Ganapathy in July last year.
Speaking to media persons after a meeting with cabinet ministers in Benguluru today, he said, Supreme Court in its verdict has not mentioned about the report that was filed by CID and also there is no mention of Minister K J George in the order.
Hence, he added, there is no need for the minister to resign.
The Opposition BJP has threatened a state-wide protest if he does not resign. BJP Karnataka in-charge and Union Minister Prakash Javdekar has accused the Chief Minister of defending an accused in a suspicious suicide case.
