Chhattisgarh to host 27th All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) in Raipur from October 16 to 20

The state-level selection tournament for the 27th All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) in Chhattisgarh commenced at the Kota Stadium in Raipur on August 29. Shri V. Srinivas Rao, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Chhattisgarh Forest Force, inaugurated the tournament. He also administered an oath to approximately 500 athletes from six forest circles. Participants from Bilaspur, Durg, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Surguja, and Raipur forest circles showed great enthusiasm.

All athletes showcased an excellent march past performance. Chhattisgarh will host the 27th All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) in Raipur from October 16 to 20, 2024. The state-level team selection for AIFSM will be determined through competitions held from August 29 to 31, 2024.

In his address, Shri Srinivas Rao highlighted that the tournament coincides with National Sports Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Forests, Government of India, for granting Chhattisgarh the opportunity to host the 27th AIFSM. With the guidance of Chhattisgarh’s Forest Minister, Shri Kedar Kashyap, Shri Rao pledged to organise the 27th AIFSM successfully. He also encouraged the athletes to diligently hone their skills and bring pride to the state in the upcoming sports meet.

Over the next two days, athletes will compete in various sports events, with the top performers earning the chance to represent the state at the 27th AIFSM in October. The Chhattisgarh Forest Department team, which emerged as the champion at the 26th AIFSM held in Panchkula, Haryana, aims to continue their winning streak. Senior forest officials, including Additional Principal Chief Conservators of Forests Shri Arun Panday, Shri Sunil Mishra, Shri Sanjit Gupta, and Shri O.P. Yadav, along with Chief Conservators of Forests from various circles, nodal officers, referees, coaches, and athletes from across the state, were present.
