State Government’s Commitment to Strengthen Sports Infrastructure; Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Facilities Coming to Dhamtari and Kurud

The Chhattisgarh government has once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing sports facilities in the state. The government is continually working to provide modern resources to athletes, encourage them, and ensure excellent performance. In this effort, administrative approval has been granted for the construction of Indoor Badminton Halls / Multi-Purpose Sports Complexes in Dhamtari and Kurud. Under the Sports Promotion Scheme, the state government is taking several important steps to expand sports infrastructure and encourage sporting talents.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has been giving special attention to the development of infrastructure, training, and incentive schemes to promote sports. The plan to offer cash awards ranging from ₹1 to ₹3 crore to athletes who win medals in international events like the Olympics is a testament to the government’s commitment. This initiative not only boosts the morale of athletes but also inspires the upcoming generation to take up sports. In addition, under the Chhattisgarh Sports Promotion Scheme, efforts are being made to upgrade grounds, provide high-level equipment, offer financial support to sports clubs, and organize traditional sports events.

The Collector of Dhamtari reported that approximately ₹5 crore administrative approval has been granted for the construction of the Indoor Badminton Hall / Multi-Purpose Sports Hall in Dhamtari and Kurud districts. These facilities will offer modern amenities for various indoor sports, including badminton, table tennis, carom, chess, ludo, snakes and ladders, dartboard, snooker, archery, yoga rooms, squash, basketball, and pickleball. Most importantly, the required equipment and structures for these sports will meet international standards.

Furthermore, the sports complex will not only include sports facilities but also all necessary provisions for the comfort of players and spectators. These will include player rooms for rest and preparation, a well-organized waiting area for spectators and participants, a first-aid room for emergency medical services, and separate restrooms for men and women. These arrangements will ensure that athletes face no discomfort while training or participating in competitions.

There are many young athletes in and around Dhamtari and Kurud who are actively involved in sports. However, due to a lack of adequate resources and training centers, they have not been able to reach state or national levels. With the construction of these indoor sports complexes, local athletes will receive quality training and be able to hone their skills.

The Multi-Purpose Sports Complexes in Dhamtari and Kurud will prove to be milestones in the field of sports. In the future, athletes from Dhamtari and Kurud will not only make the state proud but will also bring glory to Chhattisgarh on national and international platforms.
