
India’s top men singles Tennis player Yuki Bhambri today defeated compatriot Sriram N Balaji in straight sets to make an emphatic start to his campaign at Bengaluru Open today. Yuki, who had won the Pune Challenger last week, defeated Balaji 6-3 6-2 in the first round encounter.
However, it was curtains for Indian wild card entrants Vishnu Vardhan and Suraj Prabodh as they lost their respective men’s singles matches in straight sets to crash out in the opening round.
Meanwhile, top seed Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Tomislav Brkic in a tough three-setter 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 to enter the second round.
In another first-round match, Croatian Borna Gojo, who entered the main draw as a qualifier, stunned second seed Adrian Menendez-Maceiras of Spain 6-3 1-6 7-5.
