In Men’s Hockey, India lost to Belgium, 1-2 in the summit clash of the first leg of the two-leg Four Nations Invitational tournament at Tauranga in New Zealand.

India put up a tough fight, but failed to beat a formidable Belgian side. Sebastian Dockier and Tom Boon sounded the board for Belgium, while Mandeep Singh was the lone goal scorer for India.

India had lost to Belgium in the round-robin stage as well. The scoreline, then, was 0-2.

The second leg of the tournament, featuring the same four teams – India, Belgium, New Zealand and Japan – will be held in Hamilton from Wednesday.
