
India’s PV Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap, Sameer Verma and Men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have advanved to the second round at the Korea Super Series badminton tournament. At Seoul today, World Silver medalist Sindhu defeated Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi 21-13, 21-8 in Women’s singles.
In Men’s singles, Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap defeated Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Jen Hao 21-13, 21-16. Sameer Verma defeated Tanonsak S. Suk 21-13, 21-23, 21-9. However, Saurav Verma bowed out losing to Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 21-18, 13-21, 19-21. In Men’s Double, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Lee Sheng Mu and Lin Chia Yu 21-9, 22-24, 21-12.
In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet 18-21, 19-21. Earlier yesterday, in the main draw of Mixed Doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy lost to fourth seeded Indonesian pair of Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto in three games 21-13, 19-21, 15-21.
