Ireland beat India 3-2 in the final round robin game of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey at Ipoh, Malaysia today.

India are now out of medal contention and will play for the 5th and 6th place tomorrow.

Ramandeep Singh and Amit Rohidas scored one goal each for India while for Ireland, the goals were scored by O’Donoghue, Sean Murray and Lee Cole.

India lost the first match 3-2 against Argentina and then went on to draw 1-1 against England. A 4-1 loss to Australia all but closed India’s journey in the tournament until they bounced back to clinch a win by 5-1 margin against Malaysia on Wednesday.
