India set victory target of 281 runs against New Zealand

India has set a victory target of 281 runs against New Zealand in the first One Day International now underway in Mumbai. Electing to bat, India finished their innings at 280 for 8 in 50 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli reached a milestone today when he marked his 200th ODI appearance and scored 121 which was his 31st century in this format of the game. He became the second batsman to score a century in career’s 200th ODI after South Africa’s AB deVilliers. Dinesh Karthik scored 37. For New Zealand, TA Boult claimed 4 wickets for 35 while T G Southee got 3 wickets giving away 73 runs. Today’s day and night match is the the first of the three-match ODI series.
