
Commonwealth Secretary General, Patricia Janet Scotland called on Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore in New Delhi yesterday. An official release said, during the meeting, Col. Rathore proposed the idea of a concurrent Commonwealth Youth Festival alongwith the Commonwealth Games.
He said, Commonwealth Youth Festival alongwith the Commonwealth Games will help augment the sport’s capacity to carry positive messages. Both the leaders agreed to develop the virtual communities of sportspersons and the youth of Commonwealth countries where free flow of ideas will strengthen the bond between the sportspersons and future leaders.
The Secretary General extended the invitation for Commonwealth Sports Ministers’ Conference scheduled to be held on the sidelines of upcoming Commonwealth Games in April next year, which was accepted by Col. Rathore.
The Games will be held at the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4th April to 15th April, 2018.
