Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa entered the semifinals of the Asian Individual Squash Championship in their respective singles events in Chennai.
In the Men’s section, second seed Ghosal handed an easy 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 defeat on compatriot Vikram Malhotra. In the Women’s event, Chinappa, who also has been seeded second, held off Japan’s Misaki Kobayashi, 11-7, 11-3, 9-11, 12-10 in 35 minutes to advance to the last-four stage.
Another Indian, fourth seeded Dipika Pallikal Karthik, also booked her place in women’s semi-finals, when she outplayed fifth seed Liu Tsz Ling of Hong Kong 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 in 33 minutes. She will meet the top-seed Annie Au in semifinal.
In the men’s singles, Ghoshal will take on Hong Kong’s Leo Au, the fifth seed, for a place in Sunday’s final.
