Sensitive Initiative by CM Sai: ₹1.70 Lakh Financial Support Extended for Asia Youth Softball Championship
Raipur, June 22
A wave of joy lit up the face of Shalu Dahariya, a proud daughter of Chhattisgarh and a 12-time national-level softball representative, when Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai personally reached out to her via video call. He not only extended his best wishes but also provided the financial assistance she needed to fulfill her dream.
Shalu Dahariya has been selected for the Asia Youth Softball Championship, to be held in Xi’an, China, from July 14 to 20, 2025, as part of the Indian national team. Out of Chhattisgarh, only two women players have been selected for this open international tournament, with Shalu being one of them. However, the ₹1.70 lakh participation fee posed a significant obstacle for her.
Coming from a modest background, Shalu’s father works as a private security guard, and her mother runs a small beauty parlor. Despite financial constraints, Shalu began playing softball in eighth grade and has since represented the state 12 times at the national level, even securing one gold medal.
On a video call, CM Sai encouraged her, saying:
“Daughter, go forward… we are all with you. Chhattisgarh is proud of you. Play well—my best wishes are with you. Make the state and the country proud.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government not only encourages girls but also stands ready to support them in achieving their dreams when needed.
A Touching Example of Compassion
Following CM Sai’s directive, Janjgir-Champa Collector Shri Janmejay Mahobe promptly handed over a cheque of ₹1.70 lakh to Shalu and wished her well for the upcoming championship.
Shalu’s mother, Mrs. Alka Dahariya, expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying:
“Thanks to the Chief Minister’s compassionate gesture and financial support, my daughter now has the opportunity to participate in an international competition.”
This initiative by CM Vishnu Deo Sai reflects that the government is not limited to announcements alone—it stands beside its people in their moment of need, committed to helping daughters turn their dreams into reality.
