Chhattisgarh is playing a vital role in realizing the vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The foundation stone for Chhattisgarh’s first semiconductor unit has already been laid in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, with an investment of ₹1,100 crore. This plant by renowned semiconductor manufacturing company Polymatech Electronics Private Limited marks a new phase of accelerated development in the state.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has created a favorable environment for investment through its new industrial policy and ease of doing business initiatives. Polymatech had expressed its interest to invest in Chhattisgarh during an investment summit in Delhi, and within just three months, the foundation stone for the plant was laid—demonstrating the state’s efficiency and investor-friendly environment.

The establishment of this semiconductor plant will not only lead to large-scale chip manufacturing but also create numerous employment opportunities for technically trained youth. The state government is not just focusing on chip manufacturing but is also working on building an entire ecosystem for semiconductors—including chip design, manufacturing, and packaging.

By promoting new-age industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers, the Chhattisgarh government aims to boost technical education and generate fresh employment avenues in the state.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has emphasized the goal that at least one chip used in the world’s computers should be made in India. In line with this vision, the Semiconductor Mission has been launched to ensure India secures at least a 10% share of the global semiconductor market by 2030.

To understand the importance and utility of semiconductors in simple terms: just as fuel powers vehicles, semiconductors are the brain and controller of modern electronic devices. From mobile phones and laptops to automobiles, defense equipment, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, drones, and smart devices—semiconductors play a central role in all of them.

The Chhattisgarh government recently implemented a new industrial policy, which has already resulted in investment proposals worth ₹5.5 lakh crore from investor summits held in major cities. To encourage investors, the state is offering special subsidies and a range of support services. Investment is being promoted not just in semiconductors but also in the fields of artificial intelligence and IT.

India’s first AI Data Center Park is being set up in Nava Raipur, positioning Chhattisgarh as a prominent emerging tech hub.
