Raipur, August 27

Chhattisgarh government’s vision of women empowerment is reaping its results, following the vision of Mahatari Vandan Yojna – a dedicated scheme to strengthen women financial condition, enhancing women’s health and well-being in rural Chhattisgarh is fostering economic growth and social progress.

Setting an example of a self-sustainable member of a family, Mrs Chandani Bai Kamar, who is a resident in Kamarpara of Baldakchar has started her full-time business of manufacturing bamboo craft items from her residence after availing Rs 1000 under Mahatari Vandan Yojna.

“The Mahatari Vandan Yojna has boosted my morale by making me financially independent. Earlier I was not able to make bamboo craft items due to financial constraints and had to work full time labourer in agriculture fields for livelihood. However, now with the government aid of Rs 1000 I am capable to buy raw material of bamboo and making hand-made craft items, which are used as decorative items.” Said Mrs Chandani Bai Kamar.

Mrs Chandani extended her gratitude to the state government for the Mahtari Vandan Yojana and has requested to increase its amount. Highlighting the benefits Mrs Chandani Bai said that this scheme is proving to be beneficial for women of backward and special categories – for example Kamar community in Baldakchar village of Balodabazar district. The women have already become capable of contributing effectively to their communities and improve household incomes.

Mahatari Vandan Yojana has given new life to the bamboo craft art here. With the money received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, the women here are getting an opportunity to give a new identity to the bamboo craft art.

Mrs Mamta Kumar of the same village is also saving the amount received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana for bamboo crafts and for the education of her one year old daughter Lovely Kumar. The amount received every month from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is a great support for her education.

Hence, following Chhattisgarh’s tradition of cherishing daughters, who are given immense love and respect thoughtful Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has a vision to enrich their lives by ensuring outreach of Mahtari Vandan Yojana in rural Chhattisgarh as well.
