Rice exporters will get waiver on market fees

Raipur, January 1
In accordance with the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to provide full exemption from market fees and farmer welfare fees to rice exporters to promote the rice industry in Chhattisgarh and boost the export of non-basmati rice from the state.
This exemption will be available to those exporters who export non-basmati rice made from paddy purchased through rice mills and markets in the state.
The purpose of exempting the fee is to promote the export of non-basmati rice from Chhattisgarh and to provide more benefits to the state’s farmers and rice millers. This decision of the government will help make the rice industry of Chhattisgarh competitive in the national and international markets.
A notification regarding the exemption of market fee and farmer welfare fee by the Chhattisgarh government has been issued for publication in the gazette. This exemption will be valid for one year from the date of publication of the notification. To avail the exemption in both the fees, rice exporters will have to ensure that the origin of the rice cargo is written as Chhattisgarh in their shipping bill. In addition, a copy of the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax statement, shipping bill, and bank reconciliation statement will have to be submitted to the concerned market. Registered rice exporters and rice millers in the state will have to give a declaration clearly stating that the rice has been produced from paddy purchased from Chhattisgarh. Rice millers will have to issue permits to rice exporters under the Market Act.
