Review Meeting of Home Department Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma

A review meeting of the Home Department was held at Mahanadi Bhavan, Mantralaya, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.

Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Chief Minister’s Secretary Rahul Bhagat, and other senior officers of the department were present.

In this marathon meeting that lasted all day, Deputy Chief Minister Sharma held in-depth discussions on the work of various branches of the police department and gave necessary directions.

In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister gave strict instructions to the officers regarding compliance with the SOP issued under the NDPS Act.

He said that strict action should be taken against those involved in the illegal drug trade and the process of immediately seizing their property should be initiated if found guilty. He made it clear that if any police officer or employee is found involved in this illegal trade, the strictest action, including immediate dismissal, will be ensured against him.

Deputy Chief Minister Sharma directed to implement the new transfer policy for police personnel and officers immediately. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the transfer process should be made transparent and fair, so that departmental efficiency can be improved.

In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister directed to resolve the pending cases of compassionate appointment by giving priority to the families of martyred soldiers. He also asked to ensure that the “Amar Balidani Smarak” of the martyred soldiers is constructed on a priority basis with the consent of their family, so that their sacrifice is honored at every level.

Reviewing the actions being taken against chit fund companies, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the remaining assets of such companies should be auctioned soon and the amount received from it should be distributed quickly among the affected investors.

He directed the officers to ensure justice to every beneficiary affected by the chit fund scam. Special attention was also paid to technical and structural reforms. The meeting reviewed the progress made on the expansion of the Dial 112 service in 17 districts, the functioning of the state-level cyber police station, and control over cybercrimes. The campaigns conducted under the NDPS Act to curb drug trafficking were assessed. Proposals for the delimitation of police stations and the establishment of new police stations were also discussed.

In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma discussed the action plan for identifying black spots and resolving them to make traffic management more effective. Emphasis was laid on running extensive awareness campaigns and using new technologies to reduce road accidents. The Deputy Chief Minister directed to prepare special plans to promote traffic awareness in schools.

Emphasizing the welfare of police personnel, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the establishment of police public schools, police housing scheme, and the status of the KPKB canteen. The Deputy Chief Minister directed to make the work of the police department more transparent through digitization.

He said that police processes and data management should be linked to modern technologies. He directed the departmental officers to study the new technologies being adopted internationally and prepare a plan to implement them in the state.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister
Vijay Sharma said that every officer and employee of the police department should work with full dedication and devotion. He directed to ensure speedy disposal of all pending cases and effective implementation of departmental plans. Appreciating the efforts of the police department, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that the department’s activism would bring about significant improvement in law and order and security in the state.
