Raigarh Medical College becomes Chhattisgarh’s first government medical college with free Wi-Fi facility

Raipur, March 27

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, continuous efforts are being made to connect citizens with digital and smart services for their convenience. In this context, the OPD registration counter’s public area (including the waiting hall) at the Shri Lakhiram Agarwal Smriti Government Medical College in Raigarh has been converted into a free Wi-Fi zone.

This facility has been initiated for the first time in any government medical college in the state. This innovative initiative has been implemented under the constant guidance of Health Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and Finance Minister Mr. O.P. Choudhary, and under the direction of Dean Dr. Vineet Jain and Hospital Superintendent Dr. M.K. Minj.

Solid steps in promoting digital health.

The objective of the free Wi-Fi service is to resolve the issues patients and their families face while registering digitally via the AADHAAR app at the OPD. Patients will now be able to directly receive registration tokens via the AADHAAR app on their mobile phones in the MRD department, making the process of getting a registration slip simpler, faster, and more transparent.

Dr. M.K. Minj mentioned that the hospital management was informed that many patients were facing difficulties in registering through the AADHAAR app due to mobile network issues. Especially because the medical college is located in a hilly area, this issue has persisted. Keeping these technical challenges in mind, the decision was made to provide free Wi-Fi in the OPD registration area. With this facility, patients and their families can now register via the AADHAAR app without any network issues, leading to increased convenience and time savings.

It is noteworthy that as per the guidelines issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) on June 4, 2024, all medical colleges are required to ensure that patients coming for OPD/IPD/Emergency services are registered through the AADHAAR ID. In compliance with these guidelines, the Commissioner of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, has also issued clear instructions that to maintain the medical college’s accreditation, all patient registrations must be done through the AADHAAR app.

In line with these directives and keeping patient convenience in mind, the free Wi-Fi facility has officially been launched in the OPD area at Raigarh Medical College from today. This initiative places Raigarh Medical College at the forefront of medical institutions with technical inclusion in Chhattisgarh and is undoubtedly a commendable and exemplary step in the direction of the Digital Health Mission.
