President Murmu lauds ‘Jashcraft’ and skills of tribal women power of Jashpur

President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu lauded the work, skills and self-reliance of tribal women associated with self-help groups from Jashpur district during the inter-state folk cultural congregation ‘Kartika Jatra’ held at Gumla in Jharkhand. She specially appreciated the efforts of women associated with ‘Jashcraft’, stating that the jewellery and eco-friendly products made by them are strong examples of women empowerment.
President Smt Droupadi Murmu described the products made by women of the self-help group of Van Prabandhan Samiti Shabdmunda, village Kotanpani under the Jashpur Forest Division, as inspiring symbols of tribal creativity, self-reliance and cultural preservation. She said such efforts not only enhance livelihood opportunities but also give new recognition to traditional art and handicrafts.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the appreciation of the skills and self-reliance of Jashpur’s tribal women power, especially sisters associated with ‘Jashcraft’, is a matter of pride for the entire state of Chhattisgarh. He said the jewellery and eco-friendly products prepared by the self-help group members of village Kotanpani are living symbols of the state’s rich cultural heritage and the hard work and creativity of women.
The Chief Minister said that this affectionate encouragement and blessings from the President will further strengthen the confidence of tribal women power, the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the spirit of “Vocal for Local”. On behalf of all tribal sisters of Jashpur, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Smt Droupadi Murmu.
During the programme, exhibitions of tribal handicrafts, traditional folk art and products of self-help groups were major attractions. The Chhattisgarh delegation showcased the distinctive craft traditions and local products of Jashpur district, conveying a strong message of tribal empowerment.
President Smt Droupadi Murmu said it is extremely important to connect youth and future generations with the traditions of tribal communities. While preserving their tribal heritage and identity, the youth should move rapidly on the path of modern development. She expressed confidence that members of the tribal community will continue to progress while safeguarding their cultural legacy.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said it is a matter of great fortune that the inter-state folk cultural congregation ‘Kartika Jatra’ has been organised at Manjhatoli in Jharkhand. He said the event is not only a tribute to cultural heritage but also a bridge that connects tribal communities, and attending this historic programme is a matter of pride and faith for him.
Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the entire nation observes November 15, the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. He said Lord Birsa Munda was not only a great freedom fighter but also a symbol of the protection of forests, water and land, and his inspiration has strengthened the sense of self-pride among tribal communities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that public leaders like Shri Pankajraj Saheb Kartik Oraon also made significant contributions towards education, social unity and preservation of tribal identity.
In his address, the Chief Minister said there was a time when Naxalism obstructed the path of development in the Bastar region, and basic facilities such as roads, electricity, water, healthcare and education could not reach the area. However, due to the strong leadership and clear policy of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the situation is now changing. Development works are progressing rapidly in Bastar, security arrangements have been strengthened, and governance is reaching villages.
He said Naxalism is now counting its last days. More than 400 villages have been freed from Naxal influence, bringing new hope into people’s lives. Roads, electricity, water supply, ration, healthcare facilities and educational opportunities are now becoming available in these areas. The people of Bastar had long aspired for peace and development, and today this dream is visibly turning into reality. He added that the state government is also making continuous efforts to promote tourism, which will create new employment opportunities for local youth.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said it is also a matter of happiness that the formation of states like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh was made possible under the visionary leadership of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said today the people of these states are moving forward with a distinct identity and rapid progress. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this cultural confluence of the three states will continue to spread the message of peace, progress and prosperity, and that the chapter of decisive victory over Naxalism will be completed in the times to come.
