PM Modi to Lay the Foundation Stone of Several Development Projects Worth Over ₹33,700 Crore in Bilaspur, Inaugurate Operations, and Dedicate to the Nation

In line with his commitment to infrastructure development and sustainable livelihoods, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for several development projects related to power, oil and gas, railways, roads, education, and housing, totaling more than ₹33,700 crore in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on March 30. He will also inaugurate operations and dedicate these projects to the nation.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to reforms in the power sector across the country. As part of this, several steps will be taken to provide affordable and reliable electricity and make Chhattisgarh self-reliant in power generation. He will lay the foundation stone for the NTPC Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1×800 MW) in Bilaspur, with a cost of over ₹9,790 crore. This pit-head project will be based on cutting-edge ultra-supercritical technology for high-efficiency power generation. He will also launch the work of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited’s (CSPGCL) first super-critical thermal power project (2×660 MW) costing more than ₹15,800 crore. Additionally, he will dedicate three power transmission projects of PowerGrid under the Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES), costing more than ₹560 crore, to the nation.
In line with India’s net-zero carbon emissions goals, reducing air pollution, and providing clean energy solutions, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Korba, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Sarguja districts. The project will include over 200 km of high-pressure pipelines, more than 800 km of Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) pipelines, and several CNG dispensing outlets costing over ₹1,285 crore. He will also lay the foundation for the 540 km long Visakh-Raipur pipeline (VRPL) project of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), costing over ₹2,210 crore. This multi-product pipeline (for petrol, diesel, and kerosene) will have a capacity of more than 3 million metric tons per year.
Focusing on improving connectivity in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for seven railway projects with a total length of 108 km and dedicate three railway projects, totaling 111 km, costing over ₹2,690 crore, to the nation. He will flag off the MEMU train service on the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud. He will also dedicate the 100% electrification of the Indian Railway network in Chhattisgarh to the nation. These projects will reduce congestion, improve connectivity, and promote socio-economic development across the region.
In enhancing road infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, the Prime Minister will dedicate the upgrade of the Jhilmala-Sherpar stretch (37 km) of NH-930 and the Ambikapur-Pathalgaon stretch (75 km) of NH-43 to two lanes to the nation. He will also lay the foundation for the upgrade of the Kondagaon-Naryanpur stretch (47.5 km) of NH-130D to two lanes. These projects, costing over ₹1,270 crore, will significantly improve access to tribal and industrial areas, contributing to overall regional development.
In line with his commitment to ensuring education for all, the Prime Minister will dedicate two major educational initiatives: 130 PM Shri Schools across the 29 districts of the state and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur. Under the PM Schools for Rising India scheme, 130 schools will be upgraded, helping provide high-quality education through well-structured infrastructure, smart boards, modern laboratories, and libraries. The VSK in Raipur will enable the online monitoring and data analysis of various government educational schemes.
Fulfilling his commitment to ensure access to adequate housing for rural families and improve their health, safety, and overall quality of life, the Prime Minister will hand over homes to 3 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G). He will also hand over keys to some beneficiaries under this scheme.
