The scholarship scheme operated by the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (MFP) Federation is playing a vital role in promoting education in tribal forest regions. Launched in 2013-14, the scheme provides financial assistance for higher education to meritorious students of tendu leaf collector families who pass Class 10 and 12 with distinction.

Initially, it was estimated that around 100 students would benefit each year. However, the scope and impact of the scheme have grown significantly over the years. Since 2019-20, a total of 38,114 students have received scholarships amounting to ₹41.79 crore, all disbursed through online transfers.

The scheme includes four major components:

Scholarships for meritorious students

Educational incentive scholarships for talented children

Scholarships for vocational courses

Scholarships for non-vocational undergraduate courses

Under these categories, scholarships ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹25,000 are awarded, providing critical financial support that helps students continue their education without interruption.

Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap stated that this scheme not only connects students from economically weaker, forest-based communities with education but also empowers their future. He emphasized that this initiative is a significant step toward realizing the state government’s vision of a well-educated and empowered Chhattisgarh. He added that efforts will continue to expand the scheme in the coming years so that every eligible and deserving student can benefit.
