“We are wholeheartedly committed to empowering and uplifting worker families. Your affection and support are our greatest strength—and together we will realize a developed, prosperous, and empowered Chhattisgarh,” declared Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the New Circuit House in Raipur. He spoke during the ceremony of the Chief Minister Noni Babu Scholarship Scheme, where he awarded ₹2 lakh incentives each to 31 meritorious children of registered workers who ranked in the top 10 of their Class 10 and Class 12 board exams.
Simultaneously, the Chief Minister announced that over ₹19.71 crore was directly deposited into the bank accounts of 38,200 construction workers registered with the Chhattisgarh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, under various welfare initiatives.
CM Sai congratulated the scholarship recipients, emphasizing that the government understands the needs of worker families and is devoted to their comprehensive welfare. He also mentioned a provision allowing workers’ children who wish to study abroad to receive up to ₹50 lakh in financial support from the Labour Department. He added that innovative policies are being crafted to provide abundant employment opportunities for youth, citing that investment proposals exceeding ₹5 lakh crore have been received under the state’s attractive industrial policy.
Sharing insights from his experience as Union Minister of State for Labour, the Chief Minister expressed his affinity for workers and satisfaction in working for their benefit. He recalled initiating historic reforms in worker pension schemes and introducing the Universal PF (Provident Fund) number. He also noted the conversion of ₹27,000 crore in unclaimed PF funds for workers’ benefit.
CM Sai urged everyone to spread awareness about Labour Department schemes so more workers can benefit. He also informed about initiatives to provide hot, nutritious meals for workers and other welfare programs.
Industry Minister Lakhanlal Devangan praised CM Sai’s leadership, noting that promises under “Modi Ki Guarantee” have been fulfilled in 18 months. He highlighted that ₹19.71 crore and ₹62 lakh were extended respectively to 38,200 workers and 31 scholarship students. He further detailed the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Labour Food Scheme, providing ₹5 meals across 46 centres in 17 districts, soon to expand to all industry hubs, and announced free coaching for workers’ children.
Labour Minister stated that the new industrial policy has simplified regulations, boosting investments and creating employment.
Dr. Ram Pratap Singh, Chairperson of the Welfare Board, reported 31 welfare schemes benefiting 29.47 lakh registered workers and their families in health, education, and finance. Registration is available via the “Shramev Jayate” app, public service centres, or labour offices.
