Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today said that blood donation is a noble act that not only saves lives but also stands as a supreme example of our commitment to humanity. He was addressing a programme organised by the Indian Red Cross Society in village Bagia of Jashpur district.

CM Sai described the “Rakt-Mitra” directory as a historic and commendable initiative, enabling direct contact with blood donors in critical times. He said this step is crucial in ensuring that lifesaving assistance becomes easier, more accessible, and timely.

Expressing joy over the active involvement of citizens from all walks of life in voluntary blood donation and health awareness campaigns in Jashpur district, the Chief Minister said, “I feel honoured today while presenting certificates to the blood donors. Anyone who donates blood is equivalent to a divine being who grants the gift of life.”

He emphasised the critical importance of timely access to compatible blood groups and remarked that this is why blood donation is often referred to as “Mahadaan” or the greatest donation. Highlighting the extensive work of the Red Cross Society in the state, CM Sai said, “The highest number of blood donation camps are organised by the Red Cross Society, showcasing an exemplary model of public service. I appeal to all citizens of the state to contribute to this life-saving mission by donating blood.”

CM Sai reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to expanding healthcare services. “We recently flagged off ambulance services to ensure swift medical assistance. I assure all citizens that our government is determined to provide high-quality, accessible, and rapid healthcare services to every individual,” he added.

At the event held at the Camp Office in Bagia, CM Vishnu Deo Sai distributed certificates to the lifetime members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jashpur, and unveiled the “Rakt-Mitra” directory. He personally honoured Shri Neeraj Sharma, Shri Ajay Kumar Kushwaha, and Shri Shiv Narayan Soni for their contributions.

It is worth noting that the “Rakt-Mitra” directory is a joint initiative by the District Administration and the Indian Red Cross Society, Jashpur, featuring a list of 480 voluntary blood donors with their names and mobile numbers. Whenever a patient is in need, they can directly reach out to these donors through the contact numbers listed.

This initiative will eliminate the need for patients to search aimlessly and ensure timely availability of blood. Those interested in becoming a “Rakt-Mitra” can scan the QR code provided in the directory and fill out a Google Form. Alternatively, they may register in person at the office of the Collector and President, Indian Red Cross Society, District Headquarters, Jashpur (Room No. 122, Collectorate Complex).
