As many as ten pilgrims were killed and others injured in a road accident near Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai.
According to police, eight were died on the spot while two others two succumbed to injuries later. Five are admitted to a nearby Government hospital with serious injuries.
They are identified to be from Methak district of Telengana. After worshiping at the Sri Ayyapppa Temple in Sabarimala, they visited Rameswaram and were returning. While coming near Tirumayam, a trailer truck is said to have rammed into the van.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar and district officials visited the injured at the hospital and also inspected the location of the accident. The police have registered a case.
