For the third day today, Mumbaikars faced harrowing time when all three local-train lines connecting the city with its suburbs were affected for a long time.

While the Western and Central line suburban trains were running 10-15 minutes late in the morning, Harbour line train service was completely disrupted for over 45 minutes. After the service resumed the speed of the train was restricted to 30 KMPH.

Elsewhere in Maharashtra too normal life has been badly affected due to heavy rains. Worst hit areas are Raigad, Alibag, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg in the Konkan belt. Rivers in the region was swollen and many areas are facing power disruption.

The overnight rains in the city and suburbs led to submerged tracks today too at some time thus affecting both fast and slow trains schedule which led to a cascading effect on the travelers.

The water logged roads too experienced a heavy rise in the number of vehicles during the heavy morning rush leading to traffic snarls. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed suction pumps at several low lying areas to remove water thus bringing some relief to vehicles and pedestrians.

In Mumbai, Colaba observatory recorded 63 mm rainfall while Santacruz recorded 51.1 mm rainfall. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai and suburbs will experience intermittent rains or thunderstorms while heavy rains with strong gusty winds have been predicted at one or two places.
