Eight people including 7 students of Belgaum’s Engineering College were today drowned in the sea off the Wairy beach in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra during a college picnic.
3 others were rescued by the local fishermen and admitted to the nearby hospital. The fishermen also assisted the coast guard and police in recovering bodies of the victims. Among the 8 dead are one teacher, 3 girls and 4 boys.
A group of 60 students of Maratha Engineering College, Belgaum, Karnataka had come for the picnic at Wairy beach when the tragedy took place.
