BJP National President Amit Shah began his two days election campaign in Bengaluru today by garlanding the statue of the 12th-century social reformer Lord Basaveshwara, on his birth anniversary.

Mr Shah was accompanied by BJP’s Chief Ministerial face for the forthcoming polls B.S.Yeddyurappa and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar. Mr Shah has met Kannada literary personalities Dr M. Chidananda Murthy and Dr Siddalingaiah to seek their opinion on BJP Manifesto.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continued his campaign in Chamundeeshwari constituency, from where he is contesting the election this time. On the occasion of Basava Jayanthi, various political party leaders paid their respect to Lord Basaveshwara at different parts of the state.

Both BJP and Congress are faced with dissidence within their ranks. Dharwad Senior Corporator Deepak Chincore of Congress party has opposed the nomination of District in-charge Minister and also Congress candidate Vinay Kulkarni, who is contesting from Dharwad constituency.

He also said that he will fight against the Minister as the independent candidate. BJP MLC Somanna Bevinamarad submitted his resignation letter to the Council Chairman D.H.Shankaramurthy and announced his candidature as an independent candidate from Shiggaon.
