
The Central Silk Board will establish, first of its kind in the State, a Regional Silk Research and Production centre at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accorded his nod to the proposal of the Board. Board’s Chairman KM Hanumantharayappa met Mr Yogi in Lucknow yesterday.
Board’s Chairman is exploring the possibilities to enhance Silk production in the state. UP’s contribution in the gross production of Silk in the country is just three percent. Talking to media persons board’s chairman said that Terai region of the State has lot of potential for Silk production as sufficient water is available in the region. He said that Board is ready to provide all assistance to farmers including training, technical assistance, marketing, subsidy on modern equipments for promoting sericulture in the state. Emphasising the need of modernisation of all 170 state Silk farms in the state Mr Hanumantharayappa said that Multiend Reeling Machines should be set up to get better price of the produce and said that Board will provide above 50 percent subsidy on purchase of the Machines which are cost in Lakhs. He said that Uttar Pradesh is in demand of 3500 to 4000 metric tone Silk and there is tremendous potential for developing post cocoon sector in the state.
As per information received, Silk Board has also Emphasised the need of modernisation of all 170 Silk farms in the state and has said that Multiend Reeling Machines should be set up to get better price of the produce. Board has also said that it will provide above 50 percent subsidy on purchase of the Machines which are cost in Lakhs. UP’s contribution in the gross production of Silk in the country is only 3 percent. Inviting the farmers for sericulture the Board’ experts have said that eastern and Terai region of the State have lot of potential for Silk production as sufficient water is available in the region. Board has also offered to provide all assistance to farmers including training, technical assistance, marketing, subsidy on modern equipments for promoting sericulture in the state.
