Trawling ban in Kerala Coast to come into effect


The forty seven day Trawling ban in Kerala Coast will come into effect from today midnight. In this connection the State Fisheries Department has ordered all boats from outside Kerala to leave the State waters today itself or anchor them in their respective places.

The Department also ordered all Coastal diesel outlets to be closed during the ban period as sale of diesel to mechanized boats is prohibited during the period.

During the ban period the Coast Guard, Marine Enforcement, Navy and Coastal Police will co-ordinate the work to ensure full proof security for traditional fishermen who will be going to sea during the ban period.

Free rations will be given to the eligible fishermen during the ban period.
