100 companies of central forces to be deployed for Assembly elections in Meghalaya

In Meghalaya, 100 companies of central forces are being deployed to maintain peace and order during the Assembly elections in the state.

Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkonger said that 20 companies have already arrived in the state and remaining 80 companies will reach after the Assembly elections in Tripura.

He said that all security measures are being taken to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.

There will be a total of 3082 polling stations in the state. Out of which, 67 booths have been identified as critical and vulnerable and 546 polling stations as vulnerable.

The polling for the 60-member-Assembly will be held on 27th of this month.
