Raipur, December 27
A skilled team of doctors at the heart surgery department of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Smriti Hospital, the largest government hospital in Chhattisgarh, has successfully performed an open-heart surgery on a 50-year-old woman, giving her a new lease of life. The successful operation was performed under the leadership of the department’s head, Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu. The woman is currently recovering under the supervision of doctors.
A New Gift for the People of the State
Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has congratulated the hospital management for initiating the open-heart surgery facility, considering it a new gift for the people of the state on the arrival of the New Year. Mr. Jaiswal has stated that bypass surgery will also be started here very soon.
Free Heart Surgery Under the Shahid Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme
The 50-year-old woman from Mahasamund district had been complaining of shortness of breath for almost three years. Her heart rate would increase with even a little exertion, a condition known as heart palpitations. With these problems, she approached Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu at the Advanced Cardiac Institute’s heart surgery department of Ambedkar Hospital. After a thorough examination, it was found that the heart’s valve was constricted and one valve was leaking. The heart valve had shrunk so much that the doctors had advised surgery three years ago, but the patient and her family were scared of open-heart surgery and refused to undergo it at that time. Later, as the problem worsened, the patient once again approached Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu, who provided her with all the information related to open-heart surgery and counseled her.
Successful Surgery
Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu, considering the patient’s condition, informed the superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital, Dr. Santosh Sonkar, about the seriousness of the case and the need for open-heart surgery. On the instructions of Health Minister Mr. Jaiswal, cardiac anesthetists, perfusionists, and other human resources were immediately arranged. Finally, on December 26, the patient underwent open-heart surgery, and an artificial valve was implanted in the patient’s heart, and one valve was repaired. This operation is medically termed “mitral valve replacement by using a bileaflet metallic prosthetic valve plus tricuspid valve repair under heart-lung machine.”
Successful Recovery
Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu, while providing information about the patient’s current condition, said that the patient had her breakfast, lunch, and dinner today. The patient’s condition is continuously improving.
The team that performed the patient’s surgery included Dr. Krishna Kant Sahu, head of the heart surgery department, cardiac anesthetist Dr. Varun, perfusionists Rahul and Digeshwar, and nursing staff Rajendra, Narendra, and Chova Ram.
