No substandard calcium tablets have been distributed to any patient or hospital. The defect in the Calcium Vitamin D3 tablets was detected by warehouse personnel during the initial inspection itself. Upon noticing that the tablets were breaking apart when taken out of the strips, the staff promptly informed senior officials, the Quality Control Department of CGMSC, and the headquarters. Acting on this information, the entire batch of tablets was immediately blocked, and a representative of the supplying company was summoned for clarification.
The Calcium Vitamin D3 tablets that crumbled upon removal from the strip were never given to any patient nor dispatched to any hospital.
According to information received from the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC), the batch of 500 mg Calcium Vitamin D3 tablets was supplied by Healthy Life Pharma Pvt. Ltd. A total of 6,500 units (65 boxes) of this batch were delivered to the Korba warehouse. Upon receipt, the warehouse staff conducted a preliminary inspection and found that the tablets were breaking as soon as they were removed from the strips. This issue was immediately reported to the CGMSC Quality Control Department, and the entire defective batch was blocked.
CGMSC confirmed that no Material Receipt Certificate (MRC) has been issued for this consignment. As per CGMSC policy, no medicine can be included in inventory or distributed to any institution without an MRC. Therefore, the substandard Calcium Vitamin D3 tablets were neither distributed to any patient nor delivered to any government hospital.
The supplier, Healthy Life Pharma Pvt. Ltd., has been instructed to appear with samples and provide a detailed explanation. Additionally, the company has been ordered to replace the defective batch with new, quality-assured medicines. CGMSC has warned that if the supplier fails to act in accordance with the tender terms, strict punitive action will be taken.
CGMSC has assured the citizens of Chhattisgarh that the state’s medicine supply system is not only vigilant but also has a robust quality monitoring mechanism. Every batch of medicine, upon arrival, is thoroughly inspected at the warehouse. All drugs are tested in NABL-accredited laboratories, and only certified, high-quality medicines are made available to the public. If any batch is found to be substandard, it is immediately blocked, and its distribution is prohibited. Swift action is taken against any negligent supplier.
