Raipur, June 11

Once a small, struggling village in Bijapur district, long haunted by the pain of Maoist violence, Mudwendi has now become a symbol of transformation. Located about 35–40 kilometers from the district headquarters, the village is no longer in the shadows—today, it is connected by clean drinking water, paved roads, and, most significantly, electricity. This remarkable change has been made possible by the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the impactful Niyad Nellanar Scheme.

Though home to just 45 families, the recent changes in the lives of Mudwendi’s residents have been unprecedented. Where evenings once brought only darkness and fear, now light shines in their homes—and in their hearts—thanks to electrification. Children can now study at night, and villagers feel safer moving around even after sunset.

From Maoism to Good Governance
For years, this village remained cut off from mainstream development due to Maoist violence. But now, essential services like roads, electricity, and drinking water have reached the village. More than just infrastructure, this progress is also reshaping the social and educational fabric of the community.

Mr. Hunra Kunjam, a resident, shares, “Electricity has reached our village after many years. Earlier, children couldn’t study at night, but now they can read comfortably after dark. Also, we’ve been relieved from the dangers of snakes, scorpions, and wild animals.” He further adds that the village school, which had remained closed for years, has now reopened under the Niyad Nellanar Scheme. “After a generation-long gap, children in our village finally have the opportunity to receive an education right here at home. It feels like a dream come true for us.”

A Joyful Atmosphere, A New Dawn of Hope
Another resident, Mr. Lakhma Kunjam, says, “With electricity, it feels like a festival in the village. Household chores can now be done at night, children are studying, and the village feels much safer than before.”

Niyad Nellanar Scheme: A Beacon of Hope
Launched by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai for Maoist-affected regions, the Niyad Nellanar Scheme has become a true vehicle for transformative change. Beyond just development, it is restoring security, confidence, and self-reliance among villagers. Mudwendi’s story proves that with honest governance and effective implementation, even the most remote regions can witness change.

Mudwendi is no longer defined by darkness—it now shines with hope. This is the true spirit of good governance and the direction of a New Chhattisgarh.
