The Supreme Court today said, it will hear next week a plea seeking CBI probe into the Unnao gangrape case. The court said it would hear the plea which has also alleged that the rape victim’s father was killed in police custody. The PIL also sought protection and compensation to the victims’ kin, as was provided in the Nirbhaya gangrape case.

A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped in July last year by the BJP MLA and his companion. Five persons, including the brother of the MLA, have been arrested. The state government has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the SIT to give its first report by this evening.
