Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has called on the youths in the country to adopt organic farming and green house agriculture.
She also advocated for training on organic farming.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Monday, Mrs Maneka Gandhi said that she intends to seek Sikkim technical support to impart training on Organic farming to the rest of the states.
Commending the State organic farming initiatives, the Minister said that Sikkim is the only State in the country where Organic Farming is initiated by the State Government.
The Minister also assured all possible help to Sikkim towards strengthening Women and Child Care Institutions in state.
During her 3-day tour to Sikkim, she visited several women shelter Homes including child development centers in east district and reviewed their activities, nutrition and health.
Besides interacting with some of those local individuals having history of drugs and psychiatric disorders, the Minister also met with Anganwaadi workers and assured them all possible help from the government.
