Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the stature of India has risen in the last four years, and the country is moving forward to touch a new height in the 21st century. Addressing the New India Conclave in New Delhi last evening, Mr Modi asserted that the nation is going through an important phase of change, and 125 crore people have knocked at the world scene saying India is ready to take off.
He said, earlier India was considered to be among the fragile five countries, but now it is recognised as the fastest growing economy of the world. The Prime Minister said, New India 2022 is related to hundred of million of Indians, but its base is Young India. He said, while the government can only play the role of an enabler, it is the youth, who are not only making use of available opportunities, but also creating new ones themselves.
Mr Modi said, the proof of changed times is that after the government’s action against black money and corruption, and after the implementation of GST, a record number of people are coming forward to pay taxes.
Raising the issue of dynasty politics, the Prime Minister charged the Congress party, saying that even after independence three generations of a family had controlled the country’s politics, but that situation has now changed. Citing the examples of President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and himself rising to top positions despite being from humble backgrounds, Mr Modi said, this reflects that the mindset of people has changed.
